Percona XtraDB ClusterApril 29, 2020 – Percona is pleased to announce the release of Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0. This release, based on Percona Server for MySQL 8.0 and Galera 4, brings together the best features of these and other products to deliver an open-source high availability MySQL solution that helps enterprises minimize unexpected downtime and data loss, improve data security, and ensure data integrity of your database environments supporting your critical business applications in the most demanding public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0 enables enterprises to improve data security and ensure data integrity with new encryption and streaming replication features.

  • Minimize unexpected downtime and data loss with a clustering solution that preserves, secures and protects your data and your revenue streams by providing the highest level of availability for your business-critical applications no matter where they are deployed.
  • Improve data security with additional encryption features, providing more secure storage and communication layers.
  • Ensure data integrity with streaming replication, enabling you to process large data transactions in smaller, more manageable fragments, minimizing data conflicts.

Percona XtraDB Cluster is specifically designed to support cloud-native applications with the ability to automate recovery from outages, and expand and contract based on workload needs, enabling you to reduce costs by only deploying and paying for the infrastructure you need. This is accomplished through the concurrent release of the Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster.

Kubernetes Operator XtraDB ClusterKubernetes Operators provide a mechanism to improve time to market, with the ability to quickly deploy standardized and repeatable database environments. They also ensure continued database access by automating scaling and failure recovery. This enables you to deploy your database wherever you choose since the Operators are independent of the environment, delivering a consistent and idempotent result no matter where they are used.

The Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster is Red Hat OpenShift Certified. It supports all of the advanced Kubernetes 1.17 pod positioning features including pod affinities, tolerations, and pod disruption budgets to determine how pods are scheduled for use.

The instructions for installing from APT repository is giving the following error:

N: Skipping acquire of configured file ‘main/binary-i386/Packages’ as repository ‘http://repo.percona.com/pxc-80/apt bionic InRelease’ doesn’t support architecture ‘i386’

Are the packages available yet from APT?

To clarify, we are not running i386, so I’m not even sure why it is trying to pull for that architecture:

Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.15.0-96-generic x86_64)
