April 12-13, 2024

Austin, TX

Speakers from Percona will participate in Texas Linux Festival 2024 on April 12-13, 2024, in Austin, TX.

Two talks are accepted to the agenda:

PostgreSQL for MySQL DBAs by Dave Stokes (Technical Evangelist, Percona)
This is a session on what it takes for someone with MySQL skills to pick up the knowledge needed to successfully run a PostgreSQL database. MySQL might be the most popular database on the internet but PostgreSQL is the only top database in the DB Engine Rankings gaining market share. The good news is that if you know MySQL then you have a good base from which to explore PostgreSQL. We will start with a simple installation, account creation, loading data, and some simple queries. Then we will explore the very cool differences and how to exploit them. Expand your skills in this talk!

Migrating MySQL to Kubernetes by Matthew Boehm (Principal Architect, Percona)
Many environments are making the move to Kubernetes. But what about your MySQL databases? Do you leave them behind or bring them along? In this session, let’s go over how to properly move your MySQL databases to K8s.

Many environments are making the move to Kubernetes. But what about your MySQL databases? Do you leave them behind on old, outdated hardware, or bring them along? In this session, let’s go over how to properly move your MySQL databases to K8s. We will cover creation of our MySQL pods, reliable data storage, migrating the data, backups, and recovery.
