The seasoned go-to-market professional brings over 25 years of tech sector expertise to Percona’s seasoned leadership team
RALEIGH, N.C. – May 17, 2023 — Percona, a leader in enterprise-grade open source database software and services, today announced the appointment of John Breitenfeld as its new chief revenue officer (CRO), effective immediately. With the appointment, Percona aims to double-down on its recent growth trajectory and continue to expand its market share.
Breitenfeld comes to Percona by way of cybersecurity posture management provider, Panaseer, where he served as Vice President of Global Sales. During his time at Panaseer, Breitenfeld built out the company’s sales organization and oversaw 250% new logo growth and 300% recurring software growth.
While the CRO position will be a new role for Breitenfeld, this is not his first stint with Percona. Prior to his time at Panaseer, Breitenfeld had spent over four years as the Executive Vice President of Global Sales at Percona. During his initial tenure, from 2017 to 2021, Breitenfeld saw their revenue grow by over 300%, with 16 consecutive quarters of over attainment. In his new position as CRO, Breitenfeld is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the go-to-market efforts of Percona including marketing, sales and customer account management.

John Breitenfeld is a seasoned go-to-market professional with over 25 years of experience in the tech space. He has spent the last 17 years working with organizations in the open source, database and cybersecurity spaces. John’s expertise lies in developing and executing successful go-to-market strategies in high growth, early-to-mid-stage organizations. Breitenfeld holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Auburn University’s Harbert School of Business.
