Percona Distribution for MongoDB 5.0.5

December 29, 2021, saw the release of Percona Distribution for MongoDB 5.0.5. It is a freely available MongoDB database alternative, giving you a single solution that combines enterprise components from the open source community, designed and tested to work together. The aim of Percona Distribution for MongoDB is to enable you to run and operate your MongoDB efficiently with the data being consistently backed up. This release includes bug fixes provided by MongoDB and included in Percona Server for MongoDB, as well as improvements to Percona Backup for MongoDB such as added support for automated access to S3 buckets using an EC2 instance profile.

Percona Distribution for MongoDB Operator 1.11.0

On December 21, 2021, we released Percona Distribution for MongoDB Operator 1.11.0, automating the creation, alteration, or deletion of members in your Percona Distribution for MongoDB environment. It can be used to instantiate a new environment or to scale an existing environment. The Operator contains all necessary Kubernetes settings to provide a proper and consistent Percona Server for MongoDB instance.

Release highlights include the ability to now configure backups to use Microsoft Azure Blob storage, making the Operator fully compatible with Azure Cloud, and custom sidecar containers allowing users to customize Percona Distribution for MongoDB and other Operator components without changing the container images.

Percona Server for MongoDB 5.0.5-4

On Wednesday, December 29, 2021, Percona Server for MongoDB 5.0.5-4 was released. It is an enhanced, source-available, and highly-scalable database that is a fully-compatible, drop-in replacement for MongoDB 5.0.5 Community Edition, supporting MongoDB 5.0.5 protocols and drivers. One of the main new features for MongoDB v5.0 is live resharding. Be aware that there have been multiple bugs related to this new feature through the releases to date (5.0.0 through 5.0.5). Please test thoroughly in your development and staging environments and use this feature on live production systems with caution.

Percona Server for MySQL 5.7.36-39

On December 22, 2021, Percona Server for MySQL 5.7.36-39 was released.  It includes all the features and bug fixes available in the MySQL 5.7.36 Community Edition, in addition to enterprise-grade features developed by Percona. Bug fixes for MySQL 5.7.36, provided by Oracle, are included in Percona Server for MySQL, including a fix for the possibility for a deadlock or failure when an undo log truncate operation is initiated after an upgrade from MySQL 5.6 to MySQL 5.7, a fix for when a parent table initiates a cascading SET NULL operation on the child table, and on a view, the query digest for each SELECT statement is now based on the SELECT statement and not the view definition, which was the case for earlier versions.
