Aurora storage engine is AWS proprietary desgin. It is designed to be wire-compatible with MySQL 5.6 and 5.7 using the InnoDB storage engine. Certain MySQL features like the MyISAM storage engine are not available with Amazon Aurora. https://www.amazonaws.cn/en/rds/aurora/faqs/

Though one question is Aurora a Storage engine like InnoDB and MyIASM? or it is a different thing altogether?

I am new to Aurora. I get the sense that Aurora is built from a MySQL base. (reference to Aurora and say InnoDB engine in Aurora). Is that correct?

Thanks for your comment Dave. I’m really sad that you found it disappointing but Serverless is only available for 5.6. Apart from that this post was published on Jul 17 but if i’m not wrong at that time Aurora Serverless was still under preview mode (GA released only a few days ago. Is this correct? )

That’s a blocker for some monitoring tools.
